Wills

Although it may seem like wills are a concern for older people only, anyone who has assets to protect or loved ones relying on them for support can benefit from having a will. Terry Davis & Associates, Attorney At Law has experience creating wills for clients throughout Texas.

About Wills

A will is a document that details your wishes for distributing your property after your death. You can also use this document to designate a guardian for any minor children you may leave behind. In order to ensure that your wishes are carried out accurately, your will needs to be properly constructed and ironclad. The only way to make sure your will meets all your requirements and stands up under Texas law is to work with an experienced attorney.

A "basic will" is a simple and low cost estate planning instrument that will allow you to determine what will happen to your property and any children you may have after you die. Our office handles basic wills as well as the more complex estate planning documents and wills.

Property
The basic will allows you to designate who will be the beneficiaries of all of your property.

Children
The basic will allows you to determine who will take care of your minor children (the Guardian) and who will manage your minor children's property (the Trustee) after you pass away. The basic will also allows you to control the age in which your children assume control of their inheritance. Any property left to minor children will be placed into a testamentary trust and managed by the trustee.

Basic wills are usually prepared and ready to be executed at our office within a week of obtaining all pertinent information. Scheduling will depend on the coordination of the parties.
